Who reviews this site
Welding Inspector Prep is published by Urban Algorithm LLC, and its content is reviewed by Urban Algorithm editorial before publication. Review here means one thing: every figure and every claim is checked against the primary source that issues it, not against another study site's summary.
We are not the American Welding Society, we do not administer the Certified Welding Inspector exam, and nobody on this site holds themselves out as an AWS-credentialed inspector. We claim no license, certification, or endorsement from any welding body. The authority this site stands on is the sourcing process below, not a credential.
How the data is sourced
Exam and endorsement fees come from the AWS Certification and Education Programs Price List, the document the American Welding Society publishes itself. Each row on the cost table carries the price-list section it came from and the date we last checked it. Code editions come from the official AWS exam references and editions guide. Wage figures come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Where a fee is not set by AWS, we say so instead of inventing a number. The Part B hands-on practical is priced by the independent Authorized Training Facility that proctors it, so it is labelled as provider-set, left without a dollar figure, and excluded from every average and median we compute.
We publish facts: fees, exam structure, question counts, pinned code editions. We do not reprint the copyrighted text of any code book, and we sell no seminar, course, or prep package, so no recommendation on this site has a sale behind it.
How freshness is handled
Every page shows the date its facts were last checked against the source. The AWS price list carries its own effective date and is reissued on an annual cycle, so a figure dated before the current effective date is the one to treat with suspicion, and we show you that date rather than hiding it behind a generic "updated" stamp.
We do not promise a fixed re-checking schedule. Publishing a cadence we have not automated would be a claim we cannot back, so instead we show the real verification date next to the real number and let you judge it.
The statistics page is this site's own data study: every figure on it is computed at build time from the sourced fee rows, never typed in by hand, so a re-checked row moves the study automatically.
